Songwriter

Writing songs is not exactly what I do.

Its more like this.

I hear a phrase sometimes just as words and sometimes embedded in a melody.

The song somehow flows out from that starting point building verses and choruses as the song itself dictates.

new forms sometime breakdown expectations and offer a new way to hear something

I do not compose by formula so often the form of the song does not conform to the standard format you hear on the radio.

That’s ok because new forms sometime breakdown expectations and offer a new way to hear something…simply because it is unexpected.

On the other hand I realize some forms have a purpose…and one is the bridge….a kind of emotional epiphany…that takes the song to a new level or sums it up in a high place.  God has built some bridges for me lately and I am thankful for that.

One song is Thank-you Lord.

The bridge is Every Day | In Every Way | My Heart Will Pray | My Soul Will Say….  Thank-you thank-you thank-you LORD!

Singers Wanted

As a songwriter what I need most is find singers and/or groups that can take the song to its full potential both performing and recording it.  So I am making this website and resource for singers looking for songs.

Latest Song

This song came to me last month while thinking about a friend who recently lost her lifetime companion. Since I found the chords to go with the melody I heard I can’t get this song out of my mind ( a common occurrence with me)

Dancing in the Rain (One True Father)

You lift the broken hearted                       Verse 1

You call them all by name

You raise them on your shoulders

And you dance with them in the rain

And you dance with them in the rain

You eyes are filled with sunlight                        Verse 2

And your words are like the dew

You wrap us in your one light

And love is the heart of you.

And love is the heart of you.

You are the one true Father                             Chorus

Every heart desires

And when you speak your love to me

You silence all these lies

For I am not an orphan left in the hands — of a cold and dying — universe                                      BRIDGE

I am not abandoned to a life of chance — fighting like hell just for a piece of — the winning purse

 Thirty pieces of silver

Thrown into the potters field

We’ll be walking on paths of gold

Where robbers never steal

You find the ones forsaken                                            Verse 3

Who seek but never find their home

You lead them through valleys of  darkness

Into the sacred realm of your throne

Then you call each one your child                               Verse 4

As you wrap them in your embrace

And you tell them how much you love them

Forever in this holy place…

You are the one true  Father                               Chorus

Every heart desires

And when you speak your love to me

You silence all these lies

You lift the broken hearted

You call us all by name

You raise us on your shoulders

And you dance with us in the rain

And you dance with us in the rain

Your grace it falls like rain….

Scripture reference

O praise the Lord.

How good it is to sing psalms to our God!

How pleasant to praise him!

The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem;

he gathers in the scattered sons of Israel.

It is he who heals the broken in spirit

and binds up their wounds,

he who numbers the stars one by one

He calls them all by name.

Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;

His understanding is infinite.… (10.34)
